Originally from the Province of Heredia in the Central Valley, Jose’s family moved to San Isidro del General 13 years ago, when his mother accepted a teaching position in the town. Jose first came to Hacienda Baru as an intern. We were all really lucky because he wasn’t originally scheduled to come to us, but as fate would have it, he ended up at Hacienda Baru.

Capuchin Capers
The troop of 26 monkeys was strung out over about 100 meters, moving through the forest. The lead monkey, a mature female, came to an area where the tree cover was broken by an open swamp with only a narrow corridor two trees wide going around it.
