Hacienda Baru es el Refugio Nacional de vida silvestre situado en la Costa de Pacífico sur de Costa Rica. Ésta es una región de belleza natural distinta, donde el bosque cubre las montañas que suben al litoral del Pacífico.
Cuenta con 330 hectáreas (815 acres) tienen una fantástica variedad de habitats, entre los cuales se encuentra un bosque secundario, manglares, humedales en las parte baja y podrá disfrutar de el bosque primario situado en la parte alta de la fila costeña.
Usted puede explorar 7 Km. de senderos ambulantes y 3 Km de playa donde podrá hacer caminatas, así como disfrutar de un jardín de orquídeas y un mariposario.
Observación de aves y Giras Ecológicas son nuestra especialidad. Nuestras guías naturalistas le ayudarán a descubrir las maravillas del bosque húmedo tropical, en nuestras giras usted puede experimentar todo del Dosel, del bosque húmedo al Mangle o tours nocturnos.
Nuestra Misión es proteger los habitats de la fauna de Hacienda Barú, mientras educamos a nuestros visitantes sobre su riqueza biológica.

The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines the word “sustainable” as: “of, relating to, or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or seriously damaged.”
The word has been in use for a long time, at least since 1727 according to Merriam-Webster. In recent years, with increased interest in our environment and concern over the rate of depletion of our natural resources, the word has come into popular usage. Information about how to live sustainably is readily available, as are products for sustainable ways of doing things. Energy efficiency is of utmost importance followed by water efficiency, social responsibility, general environmental friendliness and others.
